Released by G2 Games, I first thought Scale the Depths was an ordinary simulation game like Stardew Valley but with an ocean twist. Turns out the world-building runs deeper than it looks. Monsters, cryptids, and a mysterious story that keeps you hooked.
I really love the exploration mechanic, it reminds me of Dave the Diver. You can sail across different biomes, from shallow seas down to abyssal zones.
Each area hides unique fish, some secrets tucked away pretty well.
But…. to be honest, the grind gets a bit repetitive mid-game. Only the storyline and progression system save it. The rest? Just okay to me. If you enjoy atmospheric games like Dredge, this one will fit perfectly.
