Gameplay is open-world exploration, non-linear quests, and combat. But the execution? Damn satisfying. Alkimia Interactive modernized Gothic without destroying the original feel. The world feels alive, NPCs have routines, wildlife isn’t idle, there’s a weather system.
But not everyone’s gonna love it. Combat is deliberately clunky to feel original. No quest markers, you actually listen to NPC dialogue and explore on your own.
If you’re used to modern games like Crimson Desert or Final Fantasy VII Rebirth? Gothic 1 Remake feels “HARDCORE“. But that’s exactly the appeal. 🤭
