The story is set 7 years before FF VII. Zack is guided by Angeal Hewley, fights against Wutai soldiers, and uncovers Shinra’s dark conspiracy.
The relationship between Zack, Cloud, and Aerith really hits hard at the end.
The gameplay is real-time action RPG with the unique DMW (Digital Mind Wave) system, like a slot machine that spins during combat. Sometimes you get a summon, sometimes a limit break, sometimes just a regular buff. This system makes every fight feel unpredictable. But grinding in late-game can be repetitive. If you like Lies of P which is also an action RPG, this one is more story-driven but the combat is equally satisfying.
