Jack Garland, a man obsessed with defeating Chaos. The story is simple but the plot twists will make you go “wait, what?” The job class system is also great, from Swordsman to Paladin, you can switch playstyles.
The combat is what sets it apart from other action RPGs. You have to learn enemy movement patterns, use blocks and parries to deal massive counter damage, and can steal enemy abilities. If you like Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII which is also an action RPG, this one is far more brutal and demands fast reflexes.
The graphics are not as wow as FF VII Remake, but co-op for up to 3 people is really fun. 4 DLCs including extra job classes and weapons. If you want another great action hack n slash game but with slower tempo and mechanics, you can also try God of War.
