Older laptops with 2 GB of RAM can struggle with Windows 10, but plenty of people are still looking for a lighter operating system. Windows 8.1 Pro Full is the answer, a lightweight OS from Microsoft that still runs comfortably on a mid-range PC. I’ve prepared the download links below, with bootable ISO files for both the 64-bit and 32-bit versions. 🔥
Windows 8.1 improved on Windows 8 by bringing back the Start button and letting the PC go straight to the desktop on startup.
Because it needs fewer resources, this OS still works well for light tasks, studying, or as a spare PC at home. The Pro edition also includes .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.7.2, so older apps can still run normally. In my view, it makes sense for an older computer, but Microsoft stopped providing security updates in January 2023, so don’t use it to store important data.
If your PC’s specs are still up to it, you can try the newer Windows 10 Lite or go with Windows 7 Ultimate for a smoother experience.

Steps to Install Windows 8.1 Pro on Your PC:
- Download W81P22x64.rar (4.5 GB) for 64-bit or W81P21x86.rar (4.1 GB) for 32-bit from the links below.
- Extract the file with WinRAR or 7-Zip. (Password: www.yasir252.com)
- Prepare an empty 16 GB USB drive, then create a bootable drive with Rufus and the ISO file.
- Restart the computer, boot from the USB drive, and install Windows 8.1 as usual.
