Little Snitch MacOS (v6.5)
Mac apps often send data to outside servers without us realizing it, but unfortunately, the default firewall can only handle incoming connections. Little Snitch Mac Full (v6.5) is a firewall app for monitoring and managing every app’s outgoing connection. I’ve shared the app’s download link in this article. 🔥
The Network Monitor section also has a neat dashboard. All active connections appear in one list, and I can group them by app or destination country. There is also a Map View showing which servers are being contacted, complete with traffic charts by minute.
But honestly, when I first installed it, I had no idea why the permission prompts kept appearing on my MacBook. It was really annoying, so configuring the program properly at the beginning does take some patience to keep it from making noise.
If you use Windows and need the same kind of firewall control, Windows Firewall Control can be a great alternative. For monitoring network connectivity on Mac, Dropzone (MacOS).
