Released May 8, 2018 by Obsidian, this game got solid reviews. Metacritic 88/100 for PC, Steam review Very Positive. But this game is for hardcore RPG fans. If you don’t like reading-heavy games, you might be overwhelmed. In my opinion, this is “Baldur’s Gate meets Disco Elysium.”
What makes PoE2 different from other CRPGs? The incredibly detailed companion system, tons of dialogue choices, and unique ship combat. Of course, Obsidian’s world-building is on point. Every island in Deadfire has its own story and faction. How could you not be interested?
But unfortunately, this game is quite long. I needed 60-100 hours to finish everything.
And I feel the pacing is indeed a bit slow in the middle. But for CRPG fans, this is still worth it. If you want to try a more accessible CRPG, check out Baldur’s Gate 3 which is more mainstream. Or Divinity Original Sin 2 which is also really cool.
