I have been waiting for a truly epic Dragon Ball game since Budokai Tenkaichi 3. After all this time, Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO is finally here, and I jumped right in. I initially thought it might just be a cash grab riding on nostalgia, but this game is an absolute masterpiece that I simply cannot stop playing. 😭 It genuinely feels like being back in the PS2 era, but with vastly superior graphics and mechanics.
What made me fall in love is that Sparking! Zero doesn’t just rely on the Dragon Ball name. The developers clearly understand what the fans want: a massive roster and large-scale, thrilling battles. Every punch, every Kamehameha, has a satisfying impact that feels just right.
When you see the visual effects, you will be blown away. It’s like watching an episode of Dragon Ball, but we are the ones controlling the characters. 😂
Of course, the game isn’t perfect. A few things bother me, such as the opponent AI in story mode sometimes being too aggressive or too passive, which makes fights feel inconsistent. There are a lot of playable characters, but some of their moves feel too similar, so there isn’t much variety.
