I’ve personally tried several home design software, and Sweet Home 3D is the lightest and easiest to use on Mac. Unlike other design software that’s heavy and complicated, this one is simple, draw a floor plan, drag furniture, and immediately see the 3D result. Like playing a game.

The features are also complete, with a 1000+ furniture catalog, texturing, lighting, and export to 3D formats.

In my opinion this software could be called “One of the best home design software” for Mac. Some say it’s perfect for beginners who want to visualize their room. Only if you look at advanced tools, it’s indeed not as powerful as SketchUp or AutoCAD.

Important: If MacOS blocks installation, open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General, then click “Allow Anyway”. SIP must be disabled first.

Troubleshooting Installation and Error Issues :

Software won’t run? Make sure Gatekeeper is bypassed if “App is damaged” warning appears.
“App is damaged” error? Run in Terminal: xattr -cr /Applications/Sweet Home 3D.app
Export failed? Try exporting to a different format or check disk space.
App crash? Restart Mac, try running again from Applications.
Furniture catalog not showing? Make sure internet connection is active to download catalog.
