I have been using Fusion since version 17, and v21.0.4 is the most stable. The node-based interface is a bit confusing at first, but once you understand the flow, the workflow is far more flexible than layer-based. You can import 3D models from Blender or Maya directly into the scene.

The AI features are getting crazier. IntelliTrack AI for tracking and stabilization, UltraNR for noise reduction, and render nodes that can be set up as a multi-PC render farm. Full explanation about render nodes can be read on the Blackmagic Design subreddit.

The workflow between Fusion and DaVinci Resolve is seamless, you can move between projects without hassle. Do not have DaVinci Resolve Studio yet? It already includes the basic Fusion version, so you can edit and composite in one application. But for deeper VFX, this standalone Fusion Studio is the right choice.

For those who have been using Adobe After Effects, Fusion is a node-based alternative worth trying. After Effects excels in motion graphics, Fusion in compositing and 3D integration. If there are installation issues, it usually just needs Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable updated.

Steps to Install Blackmagic Fusion Studio :

1. Download the BMFS2104inst.rar file from the link below.
2. Extract the file using WinRAR or 7-Zip.
3. Run Install Fusion Studio v21.0.4.exe from folder 1, install until complete.
4. Copy BMD Fusion Universal Patcher.exe and Patches.txt from folder 2 to the Fusion installation directory.
   Default is at C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\Fusion\
5. Run the patcher as Administrator.
6. For Render Node, just install it directly, no patch needed.
7. Add the program folder to the Windows Defender Exception/Ignore List.
8. Done! 😍

Troubleshooting Installation and Error Issues :

• Fusion fails to launch? Install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable.
• License invalid? Make sure the patcher has been run as Administrator after installation.
• Render node not detected? Check the firewall, make sure the render farm communication port is open.
• Slow render? Make sure the GPU driver is updated and use a dedicated GPU.
